First off, guys need to understand what type of skin they have and accommodate all their skincare to it. There are 5 types of skin.
1. Sensitive Skin: May sting or burn after product use
2. Normal Skin: clear and not sensitive
3. Dry Skin: flaky, itchy, or rough
4. Oily Skin: shiny and greasy
5. Combination Skin: dry in some areas and oily in other areas
The first tip is to start actually looking at product labels and ingredients. The labels will help you choose the right product for your skin type and tell you how strong it is on certain skin types.
Start washing your face every day and after working out. Stop using bar soap on your face! It will dry out your skin, start using a cleanser and wash your face every day with lukewarm water.
Watch how you shave! Different skin types will react differently to different blades (whether single, double, or multi) you will just have to test it out and see what works best for you! But as a general rule, before you shave, wet your skin and facial hair to soften it. Use a shaving cream to lather the area and make sure you shave in the direction of the hair growth.
Moisturize Daily. It is best to apply the moisturizer right after showering or washing your face to help the moisture lock in. Moisturize every single day to help with getting rid of any fine lines, and eliminating dry skin.
Check your skin daily. You should be going in to see a dermatologist once a year to get a full body scan. However, in the time when you're not seeing a professional, about once a month it is always a good idea to just look over your body and make sure there aren't any weird looking moles or spots that - itch, bleed, change color, or change size.
Wear sunscreen whenever outdoors! This is crucial to preserving the health of your skin! Before going outdoors apply sunscreen to all exposed areas of your skin (especially your face) with a broad-spectrum, water resistant sunscreen with at least 30 SPF. This will help prevent any sun damage that can lead to wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancer. You can always wear a hat, cover up more, or seek shade as other ways to combat against the sun!
